On Friday, September 22nd, 2023, Honorable Anthony Rota extended an invitation to Ukrainian veteran Yaroslav Hunka, a constituent from North Bay, Ontario, to join the parliamentary gallery during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to Parliament, without conducting proper vetting. Over the weekend, it came to light that Hunka had been a member of the First Ukrainian Division, alternatively known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a voluntary unit under Nazi command. During the event, which included the Ukrainian President, the Prime Minister, and all members of the House, there were two standing ovations. On September 26th, the Speaker of the House stepped down due to mounting pressure from various groups.
Similarly, on May 18th, 2022, Gary Anandasangaree, the Tamil Liberal Member of Parliament representing Scarborough-Rouge Park, proposed a motion in the House of Commons, which was unanimously adopted, recognizing May 18th as Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day. This historic decision made Canada, the first parliament in the world to acknowledge the unproven and alleged Tamil genocide.
However, it should be noted that neither the United Nations nor any international body has officially attributed the armed conflict between Tamil Tiger terrorists and the Sri Lankan Army as genocide. Additionally, the motion failed to address how the Tamil Tigers employed child soldiers as suicide bombers and carried out devastating attacks, including the use of explosive-filled trucks in various parts of the island, including the North, targeting innocent civilians.
Furthermore, a constitutional case challenging the legality of recognizing the Tamil Genocide was slated to be heard just a few weeks (July 2022) after Anandasangaree’s announcement. An appeal hearing is scheduled for December 2023. You can see the full appeal in this google link. At the time of the first case filed in the Province of Ontario and we had requested Federal Government Intervention the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada was Anandasangaree.
Even his own father, V. Anandasangaree, the most senior Sri Lankan Tamil parliamentarian expressed skepticism about the concept of a “Tamil Genocide” in a video interview, questioning which MP in their right mind would make such a claim. You can see that full video posted to YouTube by us.
Another instance of politicians pandering to diaspora votes is Vijay Thanigasalam sponsored Bill 104: Tamil Genocide Education Week Act, which is seeking to use the Ontario education system to propagate a fake polarizing diaspora narrative.
Canada has become a target of international mockery because of these myopic and opportunistic declarations by pandering politicians. Additionally, this can be attributed to those who neglected their responsibility to carry out thorough due diligence. It also contradicts any potential for acquiring genuine facts to pursue truth and reconciliation.
We earnestly urge our respected legislators to meticulously acquaint themselves with the relevant facts prior to endorsing or supporting motions concerning sensitive subjects such as the Tamil Genocide, Sikh Genocide, or any other proposals that may contain potentially misleading information. Such diligence is imperative to avert generational embarrassment and polarization, ethnically divisive politics, religion, and national disharmony within Canada.

Notice of Constitutional question against Bill 104, Tamil Genocide Education Week Act filed in Superior court today!
Case# CV-21-00661995-0000 dated 10th May 2021.
Bill 104, Tamil Genocide Education Week Act, 2021 unconstitutional and should stop force and effect in Ontario, the Notice of Constitutional Question filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on May 10, 2021. Ontario Attorney General was named as a respondent to the application.
Alleged Tamil Genocide has not been decided with any competent legal authority globally, such as the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice. Further UN has not initiated any action against the alleged Tamil Genocide due to lack of evidence. The Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills which reviewed the bill after 2nd reading, did a “clause by clause” review on the 4th of May night, without proper consultation from experts nor the enormous amount of public deputation requests that were before the committee. The Bill was put forward for the 3rd reading without fact checking on 5th of May. The narrative of the controversial bill recognized one party over another in a conflict where the insurgent group LTTE Tamil Terrorists are still banned in Canada. There was also an allegation that the committee chair MPP Logan Kanapahti acted in conflict of interest as he was also a promoter of the same the same bill, in an attempt to glorify the LTTE Tamil Terrorists as freedom fighters to be taught in Ontario education system.
Applicant Dr. Neville Hewage, an adjunct professor and Research Fellow at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Law at Laurentian University, Canada, argued that Ontario has no jurisdiction to decide Genocide and create, pass or amend the law. He further argued that Genocide is a criminal matter and has the only jurisdiction with the Federal government. He also said Ontario Government has the power to determine aspects of Education but not the Genocide.
The inclusion of the mythical Tamil Genocide into the education system has serious negative consequences. He noted that the primary purpose of Bill 104 is to promote the mythical Tamil Genocide and influence Canadian asylum policy.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a proscribed terrorist organization in Canada, engaged with armed conflict with the Government of Sri Lanka to create a mono-ethnic state living in North and East of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka government militarily eliminated LTTE supreme leader, senior leadership and cadre and ended the armed conflict on May 18, 2009. Sri Lankan government rescued 295,000 Tamils used as a human shield by LTTE Tamil terrorists at the end of the armed conflict and also rehabilitated 13,000 LTTE cadre.
Mythical Tamil Genocide is pro-LTTE Tamil Terrorist propaganda and seriously harms Ontario’s diversity and ethnic harmony. The applicant alleged the Ontario Ford government used a cheap political approach to regain his political bankruptcy.

]]>The leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) has said that he will not be deceived by the false propaganda carried out by the Tamil National Alliance and other Tamil political parties by sacrificing and deceiving the Tamil people. Former MP Ananda Sangaree appeals to the people.
He told a group of journalists in Jaffna that although the TNA and several other Tamil political parties were marching these days to gain the attention of the Geneva Human Rights Council, none of their demands were justified.
Ananda Sangaree, a former Member of Parliament, pointed out that attempts to obtain the rights and heritage of the Tamil people from the Geneva Human Rights Council would never be successful, adding that the Tamil people would be further deceived and rendered helpless by these false propaganda by the Tamil political parties. .
Pointing out that the children of Tamil politicians who are demanding the rights of the Tamil people are living a luxurious life while studying and working abroad, Ananda Sangaree said that he strongly condemned the dragging of the Tamils to the streets in order to win their rights.
Former Member of Parliament Ananda Sangaree said that it would be in the interest of all Tamil people to find a solution through face to face discussions with the Sri Lankan government directly rather than gossiping about the Tamil political parties to the Geneva Human Rights Commission.

]]>A new coalition of Sri Lankan organization called Justice for Sri Lanka Project (J4SL) emerged to request the UK Government to sponsor a Resolution to create an International Independent Investigative Mechanism (IIIM) relating to Sri Lanka at the 46th UN Human Rights Council Session. This was direct response to the pro-LTTE diaspora dated 5th January 2021.
J4SL is requesting to add the following if ever UK is considering to sponsor an IIIM Resolution at the 46th UN Human Rights Council:
i) 27 Members of Liberation Tigers and Tamil Eelam (LTTE) currently living in the UK as per Sri Lankan Gazette 1854/41 dated 21.04.2014 (Appendix A);
(ii) LTTE member Adele Balasingham and
(iii) British mercenaries – private security company KEENIE MEENIE SERVICES (KMS)

Hon Lord Naseby during a webinar organised by the London Initiative 1, in response to questions by the public, Lord Naseby dismissed MP Vijay Thanigasalm’s claims in Bill 104 as “ABSOLUTE RUBBISH”. He further went to request any proof to support his claims.
This allegation aligns with the www.OntarioBill104.ca claims of the fact checks provided on Bill 104 on the misinformation contained within the text of Bill 104.
Rt. Hon Lord Naseby has conducted thorough investigation on the last phase of the armed conflict between Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and Sri Lankan government and believes these sort of disinformation by way of publicity stunts become “gospel truth”. He reiterated that “we have to deal with it urgently”.

]]>Scarborough – July 14th, 2020 – An email sent from MPP Thanigasalam’s office on 2nd July was widely circulated. We hereby share with you our response of the Talking points mentioned. This technical breif was authored by Dr. Neville Hewage, Ph.D.
Dr. Hewage concludes that, “Mr. Vijay Thanigasalam, MPP Scarborough-Rough Park has deliberately manipulated the facts and misled members of the Ontario Legislative Assembly. His allegations against Sri Lanka do not substantiate. Tamil LTTE terrorists who engaged three decades of fighting with the Sri Lanka government cannot be excluded wherever the Sri Lankan conflict is discussed. The armed conflict against the Tamil LTTE terrorist group should be studied in its entirety and not only during its final months. A fight against Tamil LTTE terrorists is purely armed conflict and does not meet the threshold to establish Tamil Genocide. All references indicated by MPP Thanigasalam do not provide any categorized evidence of the intent to prove Genocide against Tamils ever took place. Further, the allegations are not substantiated against International Humanitarian Law and Geneva Convention. The factually incorrect and patently false narrative presented in the email dated July 02 2020 and on the Bill 104, (Alleged) Tamil Genocide Education Week Act, 2019, must be rejected.”

Many questions are being raised on why this has happened and what the community has done all these years? More questions have been asked on why the community knowing these occurrences and had kept quiet. Something has to be done and this is the time!
A number parents of Canadian born students, who had originated from Sri Lanka or were born to parents of Sri Lankan origin, have come forward with their very distressing experiences of racial discrimination, violence and bullying due to disruption of social harmony due to various groups using the alleged “Tamil Genocide” to incite violence on Sinhalese students.
Premier Ford along with the Cabinet mentioned “Every student – irrespective of the colour of their skin, socio-economic status, heritage, or orientation – deserves every opportunity to achieve their full potential.” It is with regret that we are highlighting that the divisive politics of members within the cabinet of the Ford Government and some NDP candidates. Also some Tamil Board trustees at Peel District School Board, Toronto District School Board and York District School Board have come forward with alleged Tamil Genocide proclamations or statements. Statement shared by them reinforced a false claim of genocide which was never declared by United Nations, yet politicians discounted all other lives lost during a 25 year civil armed conflict between all Sri Lankans against the terrorist group LTTE (banned by Canada in 2006). It was not just the Tamils who had lost lives, but all ethnicities i.e. Sinhalese, Tamils,Muslims and Burghurs. These divisive statements are renewing and cultivating hate and division among Sri Lankan descent families, of a war that ended 11 years, back in Sri Lanka.
We will be reaching out to the relevant authorities to avoid any and all steps necessary to correct misinformation, to stop actions of that disrupt community unity or any action that brings tension to the social harmony of the community for hidden political agendas. Immediate action is needed to put a stop for any
future occurrences of anti-Sri Lankan racial discrimination on Canadian soil. We requests that you also reach out to your MPP!
Our request is that political organisations and school boards to continue to function as a fair and equitable way, not taking sides and reinforcing divisions among Sri Lankan descents, not promoting alien propaganda, not getting involved with political issues that will negatively impact a part of the student body. We have a responsibility to be inclusive of ALL children. No child should have to defend themselves in social media, and/or eventually in school playgrounds and community settings as a result of discriminatory posts on social media. Let us reinforce and make Canada what is supposed to be “a safe environment for all children and allow all our children to come to school without fear for their safety”. These hate filled and divisive campaigns/posts has impacted the mental well-being of many non-Tamil youth and their family bringing back trauma of the war, bombing and LTTE terrorist attacks, that these families may have experienced firsthand.
We speak for a large number of parents in Ontario, when we say that, the last thing we expected from elected officials are to promote hatred and relive the trauma that parents and children are all fighting hard to leave behind. When most of the world is coming together against racism, some political elements within the community with ulterior motives are taking different stances and are promoting racism and division among and within the Sri Lanka community. Just as we stand up against anti-Black racism, help us stand against dividing and discriminating Sri Lankan descent children too. No child must go through incidents such as these here in Canada. We trust the relevant authorities take necessary steps to look out for physical and mental well-being of all children including all Sri Lankan descent children as well.
